Hey friends! Welcome to the B & B blog. We are Bret and Brandie, a soon-to-be husband and wife photo team based in the Midwest. Here you will find our latest work, favorite love stories, and recent adventures. Grab some coffee, snuggle up, and enjoy!
Heather & Jake were so wonderful and fun to work with, and everything came together so beautifully for their wedding day in Bristow, Indiana! We’ve been to Bristow, Indiana three times – each of these times included Heather & Jake. Driving through the hills of this town and checking out the views may be one of our newfound favorite hobbies. When we first shot their engagement session, we got to shoot at Heather’s family farm and get an insider’s tour of the area. During our tour, they showed us where they planned to start their future together. One of our beloved parts of our job is building a special relationship with our couples and getting a real perspective of who they are as people. Times like that make our hearts so full!
Our next trip to Bristow was for Heather & Jake’s field trip to St. Isidore Catholic Church. This little church was so quaint and cozy and we couldn’t wait for their wedding day to come around so we could capture the love these two share for each other. We always schedule a field trip with our bride and groom before a wedding to get a sneak peek of the venue where we’ll be shooting. This gives us a chance to wrap up any loose ends with the couple and scope out the best and most magical picture spots in the area for their special day.
Last, but definitely not least, our most important trip to Bristow, Indiana was for Heather & Jake’s wedding day! To start off the day, Heather and her girls got ready at St. Isidore Catholic Church. I walked into the room and was immediately surrounded by giggles and smiles. Heather had this calmness about her that morning. She was cool, collected, and at such peace knowing she was about to marry Jake. In those moments, it was so obvious how tangible Heather & Jake’s love was. Heather looked amazing in her modern and stylish wedding dress from Beth Carter complimented by her clean, classic hairstyle by Melissa Spath of Cutting Edge Salon. Heather’s dress was one of the most classic and gorgeous dresses I’ve ever gotten to work with. It featured the most intricate gold and lace details. Flowers by Les’a handled all of the floral arrangements for the wedding and the bouquets complemented the bridesmaids’ lovely maroon dresses perfectly.
While I worked with the girls, Bret handled some of the most gorgeous detail shots (I mean seriously, check those out!!) and waited for the guys to arrive. They arrived looking mighty fine and dapper in their gray suits. (Again, Beth Carter in Huntingburg had this whole bridal party looking GREAT!) The groomsmen were a ton of fun, and were really excited to take some really cool photos! They were a real hoot to work with and kept Bret and I in stitches. Before we headed to the ceremony, we captured a couple shots with the bride with her girls and the groom with his guys. Some of the shots we got will be memories that will be cherished for years to come!
During the ceremony, Heather & Jake could not keep their eyes off of each other. It was almost like they were the only two in the church in those moments lost in each other. There were a lot of tears shed in the pure awe and admiration of the love that these two share. Once they were announced as Mr. and Mrs. Sims, they exited out of the church under the “tunnel of love” complete with family, love, and bubbles! We snapped a couple shots with family and friends before we loaded up and headed over to Heather’s family farm.
They had an exquisitely beautiful and bright September day – the perfect backdrop for the portraits around the farm! We thought that this would symbolize a sweet follow-up of their engagement session, and commemorate the next big step in their life. And, of course, since Bret and I are such dog people, we had to include their sweet pup, Diesel, into some of the photos. We captured some BEAUTIFUL pictures under the setting sun and one of our favorite parts of the entire day was asking Heather & Jake to hold hands and run toward us. Their faces when asked to “run” toward us were priceless and I’m pretty sure they thought we were crazy. Really?! Who asks a bride in her wedding dress to run?! After we showed them the images behind the camera, their eyes lit up! Heather loved the movement that her dress made during those photos. It’s times like these that we prove there is always a method to our madness as silly as our requests may be!
Their reception was held at the most perfect venue in Ferdinand, Indiana – the Ferdinand Community Center. The meal was served by Catering by Meyer which was then followed by the most beautiful cake that Kelly Schaeffer at Schaeffer’s Special Occasions made. The night was full of food, family and fun! The DJ, Boogie Tunes, kept the crowd dancing out on the dance floor all night long.
We could not have asked for a better day for Heather and Jake’s wedding. We wish them all the best in all of their future endeavors. We were so lucky to be the ones who got to photograph their wedding day and capture the beginning of the next chapter in their lives. Enjoy a little sneak peek into their special day!
